Helping Performers Thrive—On and Off The Field
Performance-Focused Health and Wellness Education for the Marching Arts
Welcome!
At The Well Musician, our philosophy is simple—when musicians feel better, they perform better.
Our Story: Meet Amanda
Hi! I’m Amanda—percussionist, occupational therapist, and founder of The Well Musician.
The marching arts gave me some of the best—and worst—experiences of my life.
Alongside incredible opportunities came problematic instruction, unhealthy group dynamics, and injuries that still impact me today.
In graduate school for OT, I realized there was a better, smarter way to achieve excellence.
As a drumline instructor, I began experimenting with simple, wellness-based performance strategies based in sports science and performance psychology.
The results were powerful: students were more focused, energized, and confident. We got more out of each rep and didn’t have to re-teach as much at the next rehearsal.
And so, The Well Musician was born.
I didn’t have the tools then to help the activity evolve. Now I do.
My mission is to share these tools with the marching community and help create a healthier path to peak performance for the next generation.
Turns out, we can still get really good at what we do without sacrificing our health along the way.
Welcome to the movement.

Why Directors Choose The Well Musician
Evidence-Based
Everything I teach is rooted in science and drawn from my expertise as an occupational therapist.
You can feel confident leaving your students in the hands of a licensed healthcare provider who is trained to address physical and mental health concerns.
Practical
I get it. Time is a hot commodity. Theory is great, but you need practical tools that translate to more productive rehearsals.
The strategies students learn fit seamlessly into what you’re already doing—and they report an immediate impact on their focus, energy, and performance in rehearsal.
Built by an Insider
You’re not just getting a healthcare provider. You’re getting someone with two decades of experience in this activity. I understand the unique demands on your students, speak your language, and adapt my content to support your program’s priorities.
Most importantly, I love band and have deep respect for what you do. I love celebrating the programs I work with.
I meet programs where they are, bringing health into the conversation while honoring your program’s unique traditions and rigor.
Rooted in Clinical Expertise. Built for Bands.
