Helping Performers Thrive—On and Off The Field
Redefining the path to excellence in the marching arts through performance-based health education
At The Well Musician, our philosophy is simple—when musicians feel better, they perform better.
Welcome!
Our Story: Meet Amanda
Hi! I’m Amanda.
I’m an occupational therapist, educator, percussionist, and founder of The Well Musician.
The marching arts gave me some of the best—and worst—experiences of my life.
Alongside incredible opportunities came toxic instruction, unhealthy group dynamics, and serious injuries that still impact me today.
In graduate school, I realized there was a better way to achieve peak performance.
As a drumline instructor, I began experimenting with simple strategies grounded in sports science and performance psychology.
The results were powerful: Better focus. More energy. Improved confidence.
Other instructors quickly noticed and wanted to learn how they could incorporate the methods into their own teaching.
And so—The Well Musician was born.
The Well Musician was created to build a healthier path to elite performance for the next generation.
Turns out, you don’t have to sacrifice your health to get really good at what we do.

Why Directors Trust The Well Musician
Evidence-Based
-
Everything I teach is rooted in science and drawn from my expertise as an occupational therapist.
You can feel confident leaving your students in the hands of a licensed healthcare provider who is trained to address physical and mental health concerns.
Practical
-
I get it. Time is a hot commodity. Theory is great, but you need practical tools that translate to more productive rehearsals.
The strategies students learn fit seamlessly into what you’re already doing—and they report an immediate impact on their focus, energy, and performance in rehearsal.
